Besides crocheting, I am also looking into making fascinators. Fascinators are hairpieces that have feathers, beads, materials, pretty much anything you want. For one friend for Christmas, I am making a feathered fascinator using a plain plastic hairband. I bought white and blue feathers and a white headband. I've googled different "how to" sites on how to make one of these and it seems pretty basic. I want to make one for myself using peacock feathers.
From what I have gathered you tie a bunch of feathers together with string, sew the bunch to a headband or hair clip and voila! you have a fascinator.. This weekend I'll be working on one and will try and post some pictures of the end result. Fingers crossed I haven't overestimated my craft skills and end up with a roadkill inspired hairpiece.
