Random Thoughts

In just a few short hours I'll be off work for the next 5 days. I cannot begin to describe how exciting it is! Tomorrow morning we're off to the city of cheese, wine, love, lights and clothes. Yay! I put out my clothes for the trip and I'm seeing a lot of black. That's ok, I'm bringing a black, white and pink fedora. I am, I so am. I've travelled a lot throughout my life and I truly adore it but I'm not such a fan of the flying. I like the airports. I like planning my outfits for the trip. I like walking through Duty Free but I don't like flying. It only started when I met the Husband oh so many mooons ago. I met the man, fell madly in love and then thought "Well, I'm the happiest I've ever been so something's going to ruin it all." Now I prefer that we fly together.

Packing for a trip isn't a science but there are certain things to consider. Seriously, try to pack light. It will make the commute from home to airport to hotel so much better. Unless you have a chauffeur or bodyguard to do the heavy lifting and then I hate you. I used to carry two huge carry ons as well as a large suitcase everywhere I went for a trip. It sucked. Now I carry a large purse and a small suitcase to check. I think shoes take up most of the space. When you're packing for a trip, try to look at your basics. For example, for this trip I'm bringing:

2 black turtlenecks (one stretchy/thin, one fake cashmere)
1 thin black tunic dress
1 thin brown tunic dress
Black open cardigan
2 fitted tees
1 purple puffy skirt
Shiny leggings
normal leggings
thick black tights
fishnet stockings (I'm in Paris)
2 pairs of heels
ankle small heeled boots
Corkscrew
make up

It's not a lot considering I will be wearing the leggings, black dress, thin turtleneck and thick turtleneck, and the boots. The key is in layering your outfit so you can adapt to the different temperatures. When choosing what to bring with you on a trip, avoid anything that wrinkles too much. If you must bring a shirt/skirt that requires ironing, and you don't have an iron, hang it up in the bathroom and turn the shower on. Let it steam for a couple of minutes and then lay it out flat on a hard surface. You can use a heavy book, laptop, briefcase, to "iron" it. It's not the best method but it works a little.

I better sign off for now since I's gots tons to do. I'll be bringing my laptop on the trip and I hope I'll have a few minutes to type something up!

Au revoir c'est le weekend!
