Eu Mah Gawd! The forecast is saying it is going to get to 15 degrees today (celsius) and I am stoked. I love the first day of warm weather. It's a sensory overload and leads me to awesome and cringe worthy memories.. Is it any wonder that Spring is the time of love? I feel like a bear coming out of hibernation but fatter and with more hair. To celebrate this day I wore black.. I couldn't be assed to pick out something spring-like. I'm going to buy flowers today to celebrate the awesomeness that is this weather.
What flowers you may ask? Well, there's this lady round the corner from us who is like 100 years old and she has a little stand and she calls herself Omi (grandma). I love her! She always has amazing flowers for great prices. And now is the time to buy Tulips. I love Tulips. They keep living after they've been cut. They're the zombie flowers. I need to write longer sentences.
Apropos Tulips, my favourite flowers, I love all things Dutch. My love affair with Holland started when I was a child. My Grandfather fought in World War 2 and since then, his crush on the Dutch has never waned. He would tell awesome stories of their kindness which paved the way for me to start my love affair. It also helped that when I was 5 I was friends with a half Swedish half Dutch girl whose parents would serve us bread with butter with sprinkles for breakfast. I don't know about you, but a country that serves sprinkles for breakfast should, in my humble opinion, be crowned awesomest country ever. Not only do their breakfasts rock but the cities are beautiful. Amsterdam and Leiden are among my top favourite cities. The people are friendly, they have a great sense of humour, they all speak about 300 languages and they are pretty tall which makes me feel a little like Thumbelina which is good I guess. So, yeah, I have a total crush on all things Dutch. Now leave me alone, I need to write a poem.
Happy Thursday! Spring is here!

Tova! Where oh where is this flower lady?? The light is shining through my window and I must have tulips!
ReplyDeleteHi! 10th District Vienna. Take the Ubahn to Keplerplatz U1. Exit Keplerplatz side, see the soon to be bankrupt Cosmos store and there she is. I'll see today if she's open!
ReplyDeleteI second the vote for Oma! she once insisted that I close my wallet properly before handing me my flowers. Made me smile at the thought of this tiny little old lady cheerfully bossing everyone around. Sort of like you, T--but in about 85 years;)
