A Passion for Fashion

Revamping your wardrobe is a great way to save money and to create new looks. Go through your closet and pull out clothes that you haven't worn in a while. Take a look at them and see if you can alter them somehow. One great way to change up coats/jackets/blazers is to change the buttons. Take a black winter coat and exchange the buttons with gold or silver ones for a military look. A white blouse can be transformed with handpainted buttons. It's all in the details.

I have a bunch of old turtlenecks that I am planning to change by hemming the sleeves to a 3/4 sleeve. Of course I am in need of a sewing machine which I will hopefully get for Christmas. (I have informed the Husband via e-mail, Facebook announcements, and conversations that I want one. I'm subtle that way) I also will need to learn how to sew (Lucy, my place, dinner and wine's on me!) Minor details.

Pants can also be revamped. Take a pair of black pants and sew a satin ribbon down the sides to give it a tuxedo suit look. Add a longer hem to a skirt to give it a layered look. Change up a collar on a shirt with detailing like braiding. Deconstructing clothes is fun and can cost very little.

I generally google designers I adore and get inspiration from their lines. You don't have to copy a look exactly but rather see if you can get inspiration from their work.
