I have to work on a public holiday. I'm pizzed. I wore Uggs (imitation). Uggs are like period panties. They tell the world "I'm in a bad mood, leave me alone." So anyhow.. Today I want to talk about animal prints and fur. I heard an unfortunate story about a chinchilla catching on fire last night (Alix, LOL!). Don't worry, there is a happy ending. He got married and had babies but the description of a fireball/chinchilla running around a penthouse apartment gave me the giggles. I'm going to hell. Disclaimer: The Husband and I are animal lovers. We had a wonderful pet rabbit who passed away a few months ago and the thought of her still gives me the sads.. So don't blast me for being an animal hater..
Fur- I'm not really a fan. But I love fake fur detailing. I don't need real fur. I also can't afford it. I don't blast people who own fur (to each their own) I just don't see the need anymore. I give a pass for people living in freaking cold climates.. If you buy fur coats and live in Dallas.. maybe you should turn down the airconditioning. Synthetic fur nowadays is fantastic and much much cheaper. I have a fake fur vest that I have owned for 7 years that I adore. It's great and I'm not allergic to it. If you are for fur and want something to fit your budget, check out vintage shops.. End of topic.
Animal Prints- I like animal prints. I think they are pretty timeless but they are also a challenge to pull off successfully. Animal print can go from classy to cheap pretty easily. Really. I don't lie. The key to wearing animal prints is to keep it simple stupid. I have a zebra print dress that I love (thank you Mommy) but I keep my accessories simple. I wear it with black tights and red shoes and a red African style necklace. I have leopard patterned tights that I wear with a black dress. Don't wear leopard print shoes and coat and purse.. You'll look like a safari orgy and that ain't so cool. Unless that is the look you are going for then enjoy, you crazy crazy diamond. Be selective with your prints. Roberto Cavalli loves the animal prints but I think they can be overdone.. He's kind of the original Ed Hardy but he can redeem himself quite often (his summer dresses can be amazing). Also, who am I to talk? I'm wearing imitation Uggs. Sigh. Animal prints are such a statement but be careful about what you want to state.
Well, I better go back to work and enjoy my third cup of coffee. If you have the day off, enjoy and know that I am jealous.
