I decided to write another post because I am annoyed with the layout of the one below. Now that I have brought your attention to it, that makes me even more annoyed. Gah! I was in a rush.. I didn't check it before publishing. Don't judge me. Leave me alone. No, please don't.... I enjoy that people read this. A boy at my party said he reads it but he doesn't want that to be known. (deleting name now). Anywho, I'm on a Paris kick cuz I'm going there in less than three weeks and I am hoping I look like Brigitte Bardot or Romy Schneider by then but I'm pretty sure that ain't happening.
Instead of focusing on my thighs I've decided to invest my energy into something important. Thinking about films or shows I have seen about Paris and trying to watch a few new ones as well. Films are so real life.
Paris films/shows I have seen and my random thoughts that are deep and inspired:
French Kiss- I saw this when it premiered in Vienna all those years ago. My Dad had tickets because the French Embassy was hosting an opening or something and now that I think about it I can't see the French Embassy doing that.. Or was it Air France? Whatever. So I saw this film and I was in love. This film rocked and rocks my world. I think that was what sealed the deal with my love affair with Paris. I had been to Paris with my mother a couple of years before but this film really impacted me. I totally have a tendency to sniff wine and think about Luc.
90210- Yes, Brenda is French! Awesome! I loved that episode. I loved that they had absolutely no shame in pulling out the stereotypes. Imagine 90210, Baghdad! Wow.
Ratatouille- Here's a little secret.. Cartoons make me cry. The Lion King? Blubbery mess. Alladin? No! Don't leave, Genie! I'm not alone, the Husband can't handle the Fox and the Hound. He still gets teary eyed just thinking about it. Ratatouille was brilliant. The music, the imagery, the food.. I know it was a cartoon but I love that damn rat. Man, now I'm all teary eyed..
SATC- An American In Paris- the two episodes were great.. Mais oui. Carrie's outfits were heaven and you know when she's on the balcony at the beginning and she jumps up and down. That's so me when I find out we still have cheese in the fridge. I also saw this for the first time about 5 and a half years ago when I had just moved to Vienna to be with the Husband. It was a tough time and I missed my friends in New York and my Husband the artist was.. Oh wait.
Gigi- I watched this as a kid. I'm on the hunt for it again. I loved this film.
Funny Face- Audrey Hepburn could do no wrong. I watched this as a teenager and thought.. hmm. I don't have to be tall to be a super model.. hahahahaha.. der sigh.
Forget Paris- I have this thing for Billy Crystal. He makes me laugh and he doesn't have to do anything. Wasn't there that episode with Billy and Robin Williams on Friends at the beginning and they are yelling at each other and I couldn't help but wish that they had their own show. just doing that. nothing else. The film was cute.
I know there are more out there. I think I will rent Le Divorce again on the weekend and make the Husband watch it. There's a lingerie clad Kate Hudson in it. I think he'll like the film.

A Little Romance, La boum and Taken pop into mind. As well as Emmanuelle I-VI.
ReplyDeleteTry "Les 400 coups" - the film may be 50 years old now but there are still some great bits of footage of the city.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! I will check those out!
ReplyDeleteI really like "Paris je T'aime." Some of the stories are a better then others, but it really makes me fall in love with Paris all over again each time I watch it. Also for a bit of a Vienna/Paris connection you could watch "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset." "Before Sunset" has beautiful scenes of them walking through Paris. Le sigh.
