Random Thoughts

Weight. Let's talk about it. I often complain about my weight in my blog and to my friends. To the Husband, to strangers on the street. I've struggled with my weight for years and this has lead me to yo yo and experiment with every type of diet under the sun.. and moon for that matter. It's a horrible cycle but lately I've decided: I'm letting go (slowly. very very slowly). Not letting myself go, just letting go. Big difference. It doesn't matter what size you are- honest. Unless you are a runway model and then you be sh*t out o luck, but really. Does weight really matter? I'm not talking about restrictions on flights- sorry Kevin Smith- I feel for you. Or spandex... I'm talking about your true weight and how you carry it. We all notice weight. I'm pretty sure most of us have whispered to our friends "Wow! She's packed it on." or "Geez, she's looking really thin.. what's her secret?".

We're a weight obsessed society and I think it's normal. Right? No. Normal? Yes. I'm pretty sure that Catherine the Great was whispered about (I'm also pretty sure that horse rumour was discussed more (it is not true apropos. I'm sorry)). So, I'm letting go. I've decided to just let go and see where this thought takes me. I'm going to continue to work out. I'm going to try and eat fresh. But I'm going to let go. Now, I am not promising I won't backtrack and in a few months talk about some awesome seeweed fungus pill that makes me boney because honestly, that's how I roll. I'm flighty. But let me try this out and let me be at peace for at least a couple of days.

The reason I'm bringing this up is the absolute madness of the Christine Hendricks scandal (from Mad Men). If you are a highly intellectual being like me, you read sites about fashion. Now, at the Golden Globes (I think), this actress wore an amazing peach dress. This lady also has a figure that most academics could only describe as "Hubba hubba.". She's curvy, she's gorgeous. Some moron blogger called her fat. That's right. I've jumped on that train about 3 weeks too late to hate on this person. Now, if you google Ms. Hendricks, you will wonder how in someone's name is she too fat. You'll be perplexed and you might turn to wine. Or, like me, make your Husband stare at pictures of her and her amazing rack and ask in a near hysteric voice "Is she too fat? Is she?!" at which point your Husband might ask you to google more pictures of her, perhaps in lingerie, so that he can have a more edumacated opinion. Yup. All I'm saying is that we have a fairly skewed view on what is normal. It's frustrating. "Dammit G! Stop googling her!". Anyway.

Dress for your weight. Try to eat healthy. Judge people if it makes you feel better (quietly please). Love your life.

Time for a third cup of coffee... Happy Thursday.
