Projects in the Works

I'm gonna talk about a party decoration today because my blog is really supposed to be about partays but look how much it has changed. Ha! I got some great feedback concerning my marketing thing and I won't find out where I placed for at least 6 million weeks. Tonight is a company event and I'm stoked.. I wore the earrings that I made so I'm going to walk around and flick my hair and see if someone says "Oh hi. You must be the talented amazing person who sent that thing in and here's a job and can you start tomorrow?"

As I've mentioned before, I am hosting a Russian themed baby shower. I have an idea for the table setting. There will be other things on said table but this will be the piece de resistance. Now, before I post pics, let me tell you that I know that this is not a practical prop. You can't wear it and it is kinda fragile but it is all for effect and I heart it.

I give you- A Russian Hat

First off I took two Economist magazines and bent them and created a roundish thing. Yes I read the Economist once in a while. Not just a pretty face huh? I like the comics and the pictures are pretty. Here is what two Economists taped together look like.

Here's a top view. I used a lot of tape.

I took a strip of fake fur and pinned it around the above thing. And there you have it....

Pause for effect.......................... Ta Da!

This only took about 10 minutes to make and I will pin a brooch on the front to make it all Russky like. I'm happy.

  1. you know what? this hat is awesome! it is also recycable (spelling?) - cos if you have say a british bulldog party or a royal tea party (or whatever), then this totally like can be a bear hat - just stick a gold chain/strap thingy and ta-daaa :-)
