Hot Damn! I have a child! He's 11 days old and totally awesome. I can say that cause I'm his mother.. There are plenty of years ahead when I can sigh in disappointment. The hospital experience was a bit of a mess- the C-section being the easiest part of it all. The doctors thought I might have a heart defect and a blood clot in my lung.. But all is well and to that doctor who told me I must have the "baby blues" since I was crying when they told me their suspicions- I say "suck it." But in the end I was released and I am healthy and the kid is healthy and he is sleeping all the time.. and sometimes I poke him to make sure he's ok.
In the short 11 days I've realised a couple of things:
a) I'm smitten with this kid.
b) The Husband is super dad. Seriously, he's like the baby whisperer. He changes diapers with panache.
c) I will be avoiding full length mirrors for a few months. Tip for those who are about to give birth, do NOT look at yourself after.. Seriously.. I have a beer gut and it is not pretty.. I'm like Jim Belushi from the neck down. Shudder.
Our plan for today is to take another walk outside and enjoy the sunshine. I have my ankles almost completely back so it is exciting to be able to wear boots again! Life is AWESOME!
