New Year, Better Me

Happy 2010! It's January 2nd but I'm deciding it's January 1st and it's the first day of the year. I spent yesterday dying on the sofa watching bad films. I'm better now and I've spent the last 5 hours cleaning up and putting away Christmas decorations. The apartment is still a wreck and I'm waiting for the Husband to wake up and remove our naked Christmas tree. New Year's was a blast and my liver hates me but I'm ready to meet 2010. (Pictures of NYE to follow, once I clean the mud off of the camera- I fell down a hill. I'm awesome).

Now, every year I make New Year's resolutions; lose weight, drink less, work harder, be nice to small children. Some of these are doable. But this year, instead of making resolutions for the year, I am concentrating on monthly goals.

My January Goals:
learn to sew. My friend Lucy is coming over today to teach me how to use my new machine. I'm paying her in wine and chicken fajitas.
lose some weight I have a plan. It will work
Work on my second novel I have a plan. It will work
Finish unfinished projects
Plan upcoming parties in February

All possible. Yes. Anywho, one project I'm currently working on involves sequins. I'm making a little half cap in black and gold sequins. I started a couple of days ago and I think I should be done by next week. It's cute. I was inspired by a Lagerfeld documentary I watched a while ago. It was in French and the Husband and I realised that our French lessons in school taught us squat. I'll post pictures when is is done. I'm also going to start working on an old peacoat I own. I'm adding detailing and I'm curious to see how shitty it turns out. Sigh. Optimistity back on!

The best thing about a new year is the thought of what is ahead. I know this is going to be a good year and I know I have to stay positive. There's a lot to look forward to! I better get back to sanitizing the apartment before Eastenders start. Happy 2010!
